Mawuena O. Teiko

Ms. Teiko earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside, where she was named Research Fellow of the Year in 2018–2019 and served as Academics Chair of the Black Student Union. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School, where she was an editor of the Journal of International Media and Entertainment Law and held leadership positions in the Students for Technology Law & Entrepreneurship, the Black Law Student Association, and the Student Bar Association.
Prior to joining KMF LLP as an Associate Attorney, Ms. Teiko served as a law clerk at the firm, conducting legal research and drafting memoranda on contract enforceability and liability allocation. Her professional experience also includes research in national security and constitutional law, intellectual property, and children’s rights, as well as work at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office in the Family Violence Division.
At KMF LLP, Ms. Teiko drafts and revises settlement agreements, liability releases, and insurance-related contracts; analyzes contract provisions to assess risk exposure; supports clients through dispute resolution, negotiation, and mediation; and assists in trial preparation and strategy.
In addition to her legal career, Ms. Teiko is the founder of Kids Need Our Words (KNOW), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving literacy and education equity for students from underserved communities.
She was admitted to the State Bar of California in May 2025 and is fluent in English and French.
